Boxed in by Elements

Elements_1 Dear Debbie,

I use Photoshop Elements 5, and would like to know if I can get two or more photos on the central portion of the screen so that I can grab selections from one picture and drop them into another. It seems that Elements will let me open as many pictures as I want - I see them in the bin at the bottom of the monitor - but only one in the work area.  Can I change this?

Sincerely,
Hoping to Clone

Hi Hoping,

Luckily your problem is easy to fix. There are little icons on the top right corner of the screen that let you change your view:

Elements

Push the one on the left (circled in red) and the program will stack your open images in a cascade. Push the middle button (circled in blue) and Elements will automatically tile them, fitting them all in smaller windows. The default setting (circled in yellow) maximizes your selected image in the center.

If you prefer, got to Window > Images, and choose your display settings from the menu items instead.

A note to Photoshop users: You'll find similar options under Window > Arrange.

Hope that helps, and happy cloning,
Debbie

I am a fairly new user of Elements 5. I am VERY interested in Multiplicity. Any books I have don't detail how to do this (in plain -new user- English). Can you let me know? Thanks

Hi Andi,

What do you mean by multiplicity? Is there a specific look you want to achieve? Maybe I can help.

Debby,
I have CS, and Elements 5, I am into astropotography and need to stack images recorded with my CCD imager. My CS is Mac, and Elements 5 is in Windows.
I will need to stack thirty to 100 images. How do I go about doing it. Thanks, Darrell

I am still trying to learn ele.4.0. I was stuck on how to cascade untill I read your recent posting. Thanks, the answer was under window.

troubled.....have photoshop elements 2.0 version and cannot do anything but change to blk & white change size remove red eye-bought photoshop for dummies book to maybe make "sense" out of program-question-is there a book to take you through steps to improve your photos by using all those tools i so don't know how to use? it's a waste staying on my computer for how many years now!!!! thanks bev

Hi¡
I own a 7 Mp digital finepix camera and I want to know what aperture and shutter speed, (and ASA too) should I use to picture my 18 year old kid when he is playing with his band at night in a pub with light on the stage only, dim light usually, and of course without using the flash. Thank you very much. Arturo Fernández

Thanks for the cascade tip. It works for PSE 4.0 as well.

I using Elements 3.0 and can not figure out how to crop without constraining proportions. The only options seem to be to move the corners. The Help function was not much. Can it be done?
